Tradition...

I just received the traditional "congratulations" email from Dick Barnfield, the Zamboni driver in South Carolina. We started it after the Stingrays beat the defending Kelly Cup Champ. Cyclones last year, so I got to get the bounce-back congrats from him. Hopefully the Cyclones will retain the cup for a few years before I have to make the congratulations call to the next winning team's Zamboni driver.

The folks in Charleston are a class act. They were in 2008, 2009, and this year as well; and they had high praise for the class and professionalism of the Cyclones when they were visiting.

4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Four years ago today, I first squatted on cyclonesinsider.blogspot.com and took over.

Since then, the Cyclones have been to the playoffs every year, TWO KELLY CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS, Conference championship one other year, increased attendance every year, 171 blog posts, and the list goes on.

What a super ride it has been! I continue to be very proud to have some small part to contribute to this organization. They truly are a dedicated, committed team - and by team I mean everyone involved, not just the skaters. The commitment clearly translates into success, for us all to enjoy!

See you all in 2010-11! Let's Go Cyclones!

And, as promised, the playoff ice condition post will be forthcoming.

Coming Soon: Spring Time Playoff Ice

I have a house full of guests for stepdaughter's wedding. When I get my head above water next week, I'm planning an entry on the conditions, techniques, trials, and tribulations of keeping ice so late in the season - for the most important games of the season.

Stay tuned...
