Icemaking Soundtrack

Here's some truly trivial information but what the heck.

When reading my posts about ice making, did you ever wonder how I pass the time while doing things like dumping 1500 gallons of water or cutting out an extra half-inch or more of painted ice?

All I can say is thank goodness for the Ipod! It really helps pass the time.

My playlist for this year's flooding was rather eclectic: a punk rock mix from The Ramones, Clash, Misfits, Bouncing Souls, Rancid, and others began the day. Then I came more current with Cage The Elephant and Out Lady Peace, and I cruised out the day to Weezer.

More useless information you never thought you would want to know...

Ice 2009

The ice is coming along nicely, it is between 3/4 and 1 inch thick as of about 6:00 PM today. I put 8 tanks of water on it between 11:00 - 6:00; that's over 1500 gallons of water.

Wide-angle view:

And much thanks to the sponsors, first, Beacon is back:

And the Ohio Lottery moves from the boards to the ice:

And finally, The Plastic Surgery Group also comes to the ice:

How It's Made: Hockey Ice

Once upon a time I put up a post about the icemaking process.

Here is a very cool video of the icemaking process at an NHL rink. They definitely have all the cool toys to get it done but essentially the process is the same. This is taking from the "How It's Made" TV show.

Enjoy!
